Sakae Sushi Burlingame, California
It’s taken me far too long to get to this 5 Heart Rating. But maybe the timing is perfect. As we all know, restaurants are struggling terribly during this pandemic and I would like to feature one of my favorite restaurants that are open and offering some form of service. Sakae Sushi in Burlingame (San Francisco), California.
One of the reasons I chose the Airbnb where I stayed while training as a flight attendant with Virgin America is because it was in close proximity to this restaurant. I dined there more than once. And had the Chirashi-don more than once too. It was excellent every time! Very fresh.
What a challenge to take on when Chef Endo’s wish in 1995 when he opened Sakae in Burlingame was “to offer the best taste of authentic Japanese cuisine in the Bay Area”. It is no surprise this great restaurant is recommended by the Michelin Guide. If you enjoy authentic Japanese cuisine you will love Sakae.
Sakae imports fresh fish from the world-famous Tsukiji Market in Japan. Everything I had was fresh and delicious. If you’re a lover of miso soup be sure to have the Asari Shiro (WHITE MISO SOUP W/CLAM) and if you’re a fan of or have never had Hamachi Kama (GRILLED YELLOWTAIL COLLAR) be sure to have that too. Both are excellent!
Currently Sakae is offering outside seating and curbside pickup. Here’s their website:
