Quinta do Mar, a Boutique Hotel

If you have high standards when it comes to your accommodations this beautiful boutique hotel in Caloura, São Miguel Island, 1000 km off the coast of Portugal, and its hosts will not disappoint. My group and I had the entire place to ourselves for most of our 4 nights and were pleasantly surprised again and again by the hospitality and special touches from our hosts. From the moment we arrived we felt welcomed and the ambience and beautiful grounds provided a wonderful place to start each day with a delicious fresh breakfast prepared by our very own private chef, Chris. We even had a space for our Yoga practice overlooking the ocean! It was so nice to come back to the luxury and quiet of Quinta do Mar after a busy day of canyoning or sightseeing.

Chris and Nick were very accommodating and Chris even prepared a delicious Moroccan-themed dinner on our first night which turned out to be my group’s favorite meal on the island. Which says a lot! Chris even surprised our birthday girl with a warm melt-in-your-mouth orange bundt cake to celebrate her special day.(See photo. That’s the cake and our view from breakfast every morning. Aaahhhhhhh…) Chris, an Emmy award winner, drove us to/from the beach one day and Nick arranged to store all our luggage for us when we arrived well before check-in. Valeria kept our beautiful rooms spotless and served us at meals with genuine care. She was truly AMAZING!!!

Another nice touch and something I have never experienced before, was the honor bar. This is such a nice convenience for guests I wonder why more inns and boutique hotels don’t do it!

I want to say more but I think you should just see for yourself. As many have said before me, this place truly is a gem!
