Sometimes I come across a clever idea that I just love for no particular reason. This 5 Heart Rating for the Kindness Advent Calendar is a great example. The holidays are fast approaching and I saw this idea on Instagram and thought it’d be a great time to share it

When my daughter was a little girl (and even not so little) she especially liked the concept of the advent calendar because each day she would open a window and find a piece of chocolate molded into a holiday-themed shape such as a sleigh or a Christmas tree. We also had a small Christmas tree my mom gave me that had tiny little ornaments to hang each day. So clever! Both my kids loved that one!!

The Kindness Calendar is free to download by Google search. It is a Christmas tradition for every family who wants to focus on giving during the holiday season. Like a traditional advent calendar, this calendar helps you countdown to Christmas during the month of December, but instead of getting a chocolate or toy or ornament, each day is an opportunity to give an act of kindness. Choose an act of kindness daily, from December 1 to December 25, to do for others or yourself.

I love it. A year-round version would be even better!

You can also find more elaborate versions of a kindness calendar that cost as much as $70. Here’s one. A friend read this 5 Heart Rating and ordered a $4.95 one:
