Cité de Carcassonne
If you ever find yourself in the South of France, you do not want to miss a visit to Carcassonne. I have had the pleasure of being in Carcassonne many times with my first visit over 20 years ago. This walled city in the region of Aude, Languedoc-Roussillon is one of a kind.
With its 3 kilometres (1.9 mi) long double surrounding walls interspersed by 52 towers Cité de Carcassonne has 2500 years of history.
When you visit in these modern times you will find several restaurants and shops and you can even stay the night at the highly reviewed Hotel de la Cite Carcassonne with its old world charm.
